LATTER Day Saints junior girl’s sprinter, Sereana Vulaono is aiming for another medal for her school come the Suva zone 1 meet and the Coca-Cola Games in April.
Vulaono won a silver medal last year for her school at the Fiji finals in the sub-junior grade coming in at second place behind Jasper Williams.
Vulaono believes she has the caliber to win gold for her school in the Coca-Cola games.
“My aim is to direct my focus on winning and improve on my speed because I know I can do better and it depends on my training,’ said Vulaono.
“Last year I came in at second place behind Jasper but this year I aim for gold and I am willing to do it for my school and I believe I can win gold.
The young athlete comes from a sporting background giving her the boost of her athletics career to achieve one of the school’s medals in this year’s games.
Her father Jonetani Vulaono was a sprinter for Ratu Kadavulevu School back in the days and also a former Fiji 7s rugby player in the year 2000.
“I would like to thank my coach, my father and my teacher for their continuous support in my trainings focusing on winning a medal in the zone and the Coca-Cola games,’ Vulaono said.
The Lauan sprinter clocked 12.83 seconds in the sub-junior grade 100 metres final last year behind Repeka Rosi of Jasper Williams High School who won gold with a time of 12.70.
She also participated in the 200 metres event gunning the fourth place in the finals last year with a new mindset of winning a medal this year.
