WHEN Akanisi Vucago and her husband, Edward, joined Fiji Airways as flight attendants in 2005, they did not realise the wealth of skills, knowledge and experiences they would amass in their 15 years with the national carrier.

She said the many memorable experiences in the air and on the ground helped her and her husband cope with the struggles they faced after both lost their jobs in May last year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Cabin crew have to be welcoming and warm but above all spontaneous and resolve issues under tight deadlines with time limitations, communication challenges in a very challenging environment,” the mother of four said.

“I would like to thank my family and friends at Fiji Airways who have also become my family for a great experience.

Despite all the challenges, I am very grateful for the opportunity that I had.”

The Vucagos and their four children live in Vatukoula.
