RAKA 7s champion Tabadamu Rugby Club is out for another title win as it looks to take the Vorovoro Youth 7s tournament title which begins today at Gatward Park in Korovou, Tailevu .
Tabadamu, Land Force Battalion (Army) Rugby Club, and Lami Cavaliers will be the big names among 32 teams that will go head to head for the $2000 prizemoney on offer.
The tournament, organised by the community of Vorovoro Village in Dawasamu, Tailevu, look to expose the rugby talents of players within the village and tikina.
The tournament yesterday received a cheque of $6000 from Niko Buke, the board member of Goldrock Fiji Investment Ltd, the sponsors of the tournament.
Receiving the cheque was tournament official Mesake Kurukitoga who said proceeds from the event would help develop the village rugby team, and contribute to village developments.
“We are grateful to Goldrock Fiji Ltd for its aid because they always aided the needs of the villagers,” Kurukitoga said.
Kurukitoga said two men from the village were recruited by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces after they featured in a past tournament.
The tournament kicks off today at Gatward Park in Korovou.
