Vonu Lighthouse surf challenge ready for the weekend

THE VONU Lighthouse Surf Challenge event at Suva Lighthouse is on this Saturday, May 25, which will be hosted by the Suva Reef Boardriders.

The Fiji Surfing Association event is for Open surfers, male and female, and is a qualification event for this year’s Fiji Open Team.

According to a statement by organisers, points will go towards making this year’s Fiji Open team heading to the ISA World Open Surfing titles in Japan in September.

Fijian champion Inia Nakalevu, Suva locals Victor Maginnity and Hannah Bennett are some of the top guns competing at this year’s event.

Teenagers Kalani Wakeham and Api Tibinaliva and Suva’s Curtis Light will also be hard to beat on their given days.

The competition boat will depart Royal Suva Yacht Club on Saturday at 7.30am.
