TWENTY international volunteers for Habitat for Humanity are in Sabeto, Nadi, this week building a home for a widow.
The volunteers from the Asia Pacific region were part of the first-ever Pacific Build initiative by Habitat for Humanity.
The initiative is Habitat for Humanity’s largest youth-focused program in the region.
Habitat for Humanity Fiji communications manager Doreen Narayan said volunteers from New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and the US were part of the five-day program to build and restore homes for the underprivileged.
“We are thankful for the overwhelming volunteer response to this Pacific build and volunteers’ energy and passion is admirable,” she said.
“We look forward to a great team effort as volunteers from four countries work side by side for a common goal that is to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.”
The Habitat Young Leaders Build will end on April 21 when thousands of young people across the Asia Pacific region become involved in building projects simultaneously.
The annual program was launched in December 2017.
