THE Vodafone ATH Foundation handed over a cheque for $20,000 to Lifeline Fiji on Friday to help with their work.

Vodafone regional manager Nilesh Chand said the support was a small way for them to assist the huge work Lifeline Fiji was involved in.

“We are seeing that more men are falling victim to problems associated with mental health, we may or may not act now because it has not happened to our loved ones,” he said.

“More importantly, we as colleagues of corporate sector organisations and families have not even been trained to identify the signs and symptoms of stress which may later lead to taking lives and the stigma associated with attempting to commit suicide.”

Mr Chand said Vodafone ATH was committed to assisting Lifeline Fiji and has urged other stakeholders to also lend a helping hand.

“By virtue of this handover we the foundation and on behalf of all our close associations we would like to urge more corporates, communities and families to come together and address issues that impair the success of Fiji and is also blocking our development.”

Lifeline Fiji board chairwoman Tiri Naulivou acknowledged the foundation for its assistance to help them carry out the work they do.

“You have assisted us with our outreach programs, provided technical assistance and also importantly you’ve helped us to take care of our volunteers.”
