VILLAGERS in the northern Lau Group will have the opportunity to register births and marriages as well as their TIN letters when a team of Government officials arrives there this week.
Led by Divisional Commissioner Eastern Luke Moroivalu, officials will visit Ono-i-Lau, Kabara, Oneata and Moala.
The purpose of the tour is to take government services to the people on the islands and address their needs through consultations.
“Rural development is a high priority that’s included in government’s development agenda,” Mr Moroivalu said in a statement issued yesterday
“That is why we have placed a special emphasis on the provision of proper rural roads, electricity, water supply and income generating opportunities in the rural and maritime region.”
The Maritime and Safety Authority of Fiji will also conduct awareness to local boat owners and the Water Authority of Fiji will also survey various water sources already available.
“This trip will be a great opportunity for the people to raise their concerns to Government officials and get first-hand responses.”
