Queries about the 2022 General Election date have also been made by villagers in Cakaudrove visited by The People’s Alliance party leader Sitiveni Rabuka and his team.

The same question was raised at Buca Village this week in which Mr Rabuka said that similar queries have been asked in places he visited.

At Buca, villager Mosese Nabukavou asked when would the election be held because villagers also have plans of travelling during the Christmas break.

With everyone being left in the dark about the election date, Mr Nabukavou said it was difficult to plan their Christmas and New Year gatherings because they didn’t want to be in the village to vote.

But their travel plans, he said would mean them travelling out of the village, away from their voting stations.

Mr Nabukavou said the villagers should be informed of the election date early so they could better plan their movement.

In his response, Mr Rabuka urged villagers to know their polling stations.

He encouraged them to register as the new voter registration card contained the location of their polling station.

But he told villagers to wait for the Election Writ to be issued.

Once that is issued, he said the election date would then be known, nomination of candidates finalised, campaign period starts and then the election would happen.

He urged them to vote during the election because in 2018, out of the 32,000 voters registered in Cakaudrove, only 22,000 voted.
