THERE is a need for village headmen and respective district reps to practice fairness within the community they live in, says Ministry of Itaukei Affairs deputy chief executive officer Josefa Toganivalu.

Mr Toganivalu made this remarks while responding to a question by a Dreketi district rep, Jimilai Wainibalagi, who had asked if village headman and district rep could participate in the political campaign for any party.

“Our advice to you the village headmen and district reps not to participate in any political campaigns,” Mr Toganivalu said.

He reasoned that they had to be fair and ensure responsibilities they were entrusted with were fulfilled.

He said it was best that they remained apolitical and focused on their roles as village headmen and district reps.
