Veterinary services in the North

ALL livestock farmers and pet owners in the Northern Division are urged to take advantage of the Animals Fiji outreach program that is now available at the newly set up clinic in Labasa.
Located at Ivi St in the Navakamasisuasua industrial division in Labasa, the clinic is maintained by a travelling team who will be routinely providing veterinary services in Lautoka on the first week of the month, Labasa in the second and Taveuni in the third week.
The outreach’s volunteer facilitator Priscilla Reddy said the Animals Fiji outreach program kicked off in December providing veterinary services to areas in high need of them.
Ms Reddy said the Labasa segment of the outreach clinic was previously struggling without the basic setup to deliver services required and was at risk of suspension.
“Fortunately, in a massive community effort and in just under two weeks, a small team of Labasa residents and businesses and Animals Fiji volunteers managed to sponsor and set up a functioning veterinary clinic that will be able to consistently provide services every month,” she said.
“There was such great support in Labasa that within days we built an outreach veterinary clinic on donated premises with donated furniture, equipment, and signage and to top it off — we are fully booked.”
The Animals Fiji outreach team can be reached on 9986253 or 6701012 for bookings and means of assisting them on their endeavours to make veterinary services accessible and affordable for all of Fiji.
