VESIDA Kings volleyball team is helping the community by organising a clean-up campaign as part of their preparation for the Marist Volleyball tournament next week.
The newly-formed club is determined that with the support of the community it will boost the morale of the players to play their best come next weekend.
Coach Epeli Nawalu said their plan was to expose the young players in their team to high level competition
“Our focus for our clean-up campaign was to make a head start in our preparation towards the Marist volleyball tournament,” he said.
“Majority of our players are unemployed, but for the love of the sport it brought us together to form a team last year and to participate in one of the biggest tournaments in Fiji.
“This is a major boost for us since the community is supporting us through financial contribution. We have the talent and the potential that can overcome any team, but all we need is support and also a sponsor to help these players.
“Some of these young players want to become national reps and this is a new step for them and also a new season for us and we want them to achieve great things through volleyball.”
Nawalu added that some of the players were inexperienced and with these tournaments it will help expose their talents.
“For me as a coach it also helped me encourage them to work hard and give them ideas or game plan to help them against the other teams.
“It won’t be an easy tournament for us since we’re a newly formed club but with the support we can overcome these obstacles. So I am pleading with all business houses and members of the community to come and support these boys because they are our future.”
