Resort worker Joeli Vibote is calling on Fijians to verify their vaccination status after he found out this week that his second dose was not registered.

The Saunaka resident said his disappointment resulted in a verbal confrontation with a health worker at a vaccination centre in Nadi this week.

“I lost my vaccination card so I went to get a new one,” he said.

“When I said that I was fully vaccinated, they told me they did not have any records of my second dose.

“I was very upset because I got my second dose on August 20 with my younger sister.

“I showed them her vaccination card and they told me that she was not in the system too.”

He said he was raising the issue because others might be facing similar issues.

Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete responded to Mr Vibote’s emailed concerns and said the public should never be subjected to rude behaviour by health workers.

Dr Waqainabete has not responded to questions from The Fiji Times on the issue.
