Rio Olympics Fiji rugby 7s gold medallist Jasa Veremalua and Masivesi Dakuwaqa will team-up for the Hideaway Hurricanes in this weekend’s Central Coast 7s to be held in Australia.
Speaking from Australia yesterday, Veremalua said the duo were confident of giving their best to help the team do well in their first Central Coast 7s event.
Veremalua said the tournament would be tough as all teams had included some best 7s players in their respective teams.
“It will be a tough challenge but we are confident of giving our best to help our team do well,” he said.
“Having Masivesi in our team will be a huge boost and we will try and combine well with the rest of the boys to help our team produce the goods.
“All teams will be out to win and we will also do our best in all the games.”
Meanwhile, Veremalua’s Hurricanes teammate Apisai Domolailai has teamed-up with Fiji 7s nippy playmaker Jerry Tuwai and former England 7s rep Ben Gollings for the Daveta rugby 7s team.
Former Fiji 7s rep Amenoni Nasilasila will also lead a young Ratu Filise team in the same event while Coral Coast 7s champion Police will be boasted with the inclusion of former Fiji 7s reps Joeli Lutumailagi, Mitieli Nacagilevu, Livai Ikanikoda, Suva rugby rep Ratu Meli Kurisaru and Eroni Sau.
Other Fijian teams participating at the tournament include Uluinakau, Tabadamu, Newtown and the Nabua Broncos under-17 team.
The two-day event kicks off tomorrow.
