More than 100 people affected by the Suva Flea Market fire say they are in desperate need of food and cash.

They revealed this to this newspaper while filling out assessment forms at the Suva carrier stand yesterday.

Fiji United National Association of Market Vendors and Handicraft president Sisaro Temo said the forms would be forwarded to the Prime Minister’s Office.

About 80 handicraft vendors’ stalls were destroyed in the blaze last Friday.

“Today we are handing out assessment forms to members to assess the damage in monetary terms so we can take it to the PM on Wednesday and show him the problems we face from coronavirus and the fire,” Mr Temo said.

“We are crying out for immediate assistance — food and cash — and we will ask for it from the Government.”

Mr Temo said the association would continue receiving assessment forms at the Suva carrier stand until Saturday.
