THE Veiuto Primary School under-13 rugby team returned from its New Zealand tour on Sunday. The team consisted of 23 players and the side played four games winning two – against Central Bay U13 15-7 and Otahuhu U12, 74-0, but lost to Kelston Boys U14 by 59-19 and Wesley College U14 by 24-20.

Coach Malakai Tueli said the players had learned a lot from the tour. “The reason behind the tour was to expose us as a team,” he said.

“A high level of rugby was on display during the tour something that warmed all spectators, especially the huge turnout of Fijian supporters who were there to support the team throughout the tour.

“The boys also performed Fijian meke and sang Fijian songs that really got the opposing teams and members of the crowd going during the after match functions.” Tueli said the players enjoyed the trip .

He said the tour would boost the players in this year’s Suva Kaji Rugby season which starts this weekend.
