Fiji’s leading vehicle dealer Asco Motors has gone cashless in its effort to tap into the more-advanced mode of payments in a modern economy.

Its chief executive Ronald Kumar says customers are adapting well to the system since the company started implementing the cashless payment system last week.

“If you look at more advanced economies, they generally don’t take cash because its encouragement of cashless encourages governance and there is less risk of anyone doing anything,” Mr Kumar said.

“It also improves our ability to serve customers in time because there are so many digital options available looking at Visa cards, Visa debit cards, QR pays so you can see where the economy is going.

“As a corporate citizen, we want to contribute to a cashless economy; it’s just safer and efficient to manage.”

Mr Kumar said it was also fitting for the company to introduce the use of online payment because most customers preferred this efficient and safe payment method.

Meanwhile, the company also launched its Toyota Innova 7-seater SUV vehicle over the weekend, a modern fleet designed for families, corporate executives and middle management.

“This is the latest addition to our existing Toyota fleet so we positively encourage people in our market at that level to have a look because this is something that we haven’t had.

“So we now have something that will provide that opportunity for customers.”
