THE Vodafone Vanua XV continued preparations at Bidesi Ground today as the countdown begins before their upcoming New Zealand tour next month.

Under heavy conditions and a swamped ground, the Vanua XV hit out in a two hour session running set pieces and working on defence with former Flying Fijian and trainer Sireli Bobo.

“There is a lot of talent and skills on hand and I’m happy with the direction our players are moving,” said Vanua XV coach Inoke Male said.

Male said although the team was solely selected from the B division grade, the Fiji Rugby Union was ensuring they received the same level of preparation all teams representing Fiji on a national level receive.

“It’s a taste for what to come and the option is there for some of them if they move forward into representing Fiji under the Fiji Airways Drua and possibly the Flying Fijians.”

The Vanua XV will play a friendly match against the Police Rugby team tomorrow at Bidesi Park.
