IN a bid to spread love with senior citizens, Shreedhar Motors Pte Ltd staff members hosted morning tea for residents of Pearce Home in Suva yesterday.

Shreedhar Motors national manager Arvin Prasad said his team decided to bring Valentine’s Day cheer to the elderly for a change.

“We at Shreedhar Motors decided to do something different this Valentine’s and it has been a real honour to come to Pearce Home and to spend time with the residents here,” he said.

“We wanted our Valentine’s Day to be about seeing these elders happy because Valentine’s is all about love, sharing and affection.”

Mr Prasad said among the residents were former social icons including Fiji’s first Hibiscus Queen Liebling Marlow who was crowned in 1956.

“We just wanted to make them smile and I think we have done a great job.

“We are thinking of coming here and doing more community work in the future.

Pearce Home matron Ruci Kava said the Valentine’s Day visit was the first of its kind.

“I have been here for the past 11 years and this is the first time this has ever happened here,” she said.

“I am really touched and moved by what they did today.

“These people (Shreedhar Motors staff) have shown to us that they are committed to the lives of our senior citizens here.

“I would like to thank them for what they’ve done and the thought to have this visitation is really great.

“They made history today.”
