Traveling all the way down from Suva to Nadi to watch the Swire Shipping Drua take on the Melbourn Rebels at the Prince Charles Park was worth it, says Vesidrau Vakacegu.

The 44-year-old said the four-hour bus ride was worth it and gave his praises to the Drua for a thrilling game.

“It was such an exciting game and I’m really happy with the way they played against a very strong team like the Rebels,” Vakacegu said.

The Ovalau native said another reason he traveled down to the west was to support another Ovalau villager, number eight Joe Tamani.

“There are quite a few boys from Ovalau in the Fijian Drua and that’s one of the reasons I came down to support the team,” Vakacegu said.

He said the Drua had improved greatly and was shocked at their performance.

“It’s a huge improvement since last year and I really believe they will do well this year,” he said Vakacegu said he would be sure to attend all the six Drua matches that would be held here in Fiji and was already looking forward to it.

“Of course, I’ll make sure to attend all of their games and I know that will get better and they continue into the competition.”

He also mentioned that he was impressed with 18-year-old Philip Baselala’s performance, who played at fullback.

“He plays really well for someone his age and I really think that he will go far.”
