Everyone in the Fiji Police Force will need to get vaccinated, Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said after receiving his first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

“Nothing to worry about and all officers need to receive their dose considering the calling that we have,” he said.

Mr Tudravu said police officers were frontliners and it was important they receive the vaccine.

He encouraged members of the disciplined force and civilians to get registered and get vaccinated.

He said getting the vaccine was an important step towards protecting the officers from a plague that had claimed millions of lives around the globe.

Meanwhile, about 4000 members of the force are expected to get the vaccine this week, excluding officers based in the Northern Division and the maritime areas.
