VICE chancellor and President of the University of the South Pacific was full of emotions because this will be the last graduation ceremony he will be officiating in.

While speaking at the Faculty of Business and Economics graduation held today at the FMF Gymnasium, he said the farewell would be difficult after the Pasifika Voices Choir sung him a farewell song before the conclusion of the ceremony.

“Thank you so much for honouring me this way. Thank you to the students leaders , the choir and thank you everybody for the dedication shown,” Professor Chandra said.

Professor Chandra said he spent most of his life studying at USP.

“It’s a very emotional moment at this point because as I come to the end of my term , here it is not just that I finish my term as a VC but because I spent most of my life studying here as well,” he said.

He has served as VC for the past 10 years and the newly-appointed VC Professor Pal Ahluwalia of the University of Portsmouth in the UK would take up office by November of this year.
