The urgent meeting of the full University of the South Pacific (USP) council will be held on Friday next week to address issues surrounding the suspension of its vice-chancellor Prof Pal Ahluwalia.

The meeting date was confirmed to The Fiji Times by USP council chairman and pro-chancellor Winston Thompson last night.

Mr Thompson said the agenda of the meeting had not been set, but was something that the members would decide on.

“Some members are overseas and they won’t be able to travel, but they are going to come online, the ones in Fiji, some of them will be online as well and some will come to the venue, wherever that is,” he said.

He also confirmed that more than 10-member countries had sanctioned the council to call for the emergency meeting.
