USP audit committee drafts TOR for independent investigator

THE University of the South Pacific Audit and Risk Committee has drafted a Terms of Reference (TOR) for the independent investigator in the case of the recent allegations made against the university.

According to a statement by USP, the TOR was requested at the Port Villa Council meeting last month and has been sent to the Council member for approval by Thursday, June 6.

The Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee will then invite several independent investigators for their interest and one of whom will be engaged to commence the investigation by June 20, 2019, with a final report due by August 16, 2019.

Recent allegations against the USP were discussed at the 88th meeting of the Council of the University of the South Pacific at Port Vila, Vanuatu, last month.

The Council expressed support for the investigation being undertaken by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).

The Council will provide further updates to the university community in due course.
