POLICE are concerned about the use of social media by young Fijians today.

Police divisional commander West Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surend Sami relayed the message to students of St Thomas High School during their cadet passing-out parade yesterday and urged them to use social media wisely and to their advantage.

Mr Sami reminded students on the proper use of social media for awareness, education and promotion of goods and products.

He warned students to be very mindful of the disadvantages of its use such as hacking, pornography, cyberstalking and addiction.

“I urge you all to use social media to your advantage,” Mr Sami said.

Meanwhile, school head boy and Baton of Honour recipient Luke Ketewai said the annual cadet passing-out parade instilled in him and other students discipline and a value of true leadership.

A total of 488 cadets were part of the passing-out parade.
