THE USS Naval Shoup DDG-86 is currently visiting our shores for the first time with over 300 naval personnel on board.

Commander Andy Strickland said they departed the United States for the South Pacific at the end of July.

“We had visited Guam and now we’re in Fiji both for engagement and to refill our stocks,” Commander Strickland said.

He said they were excited to experience the Fijian food and culture during their short stay here.

The team will be carrying out community service programs and will be departing FIji tomorrow.
