The US national charged with the murder of his wife earlier this month appeared for first mention in the High Court in Lautoka today.

Bradley Robert Dawson appeared before Justice Riyaz Hamza after spending two weeks in remand at the Natabua Corrections Centre.

He is charged with one count of murder for the death of his wife Christe Chen at a resort in the Yasawa Islands on July 9, 2022.

The State has requested 21 days to file further disclosures.

State prosecutor Alvin Singh informed Justice Hamza that the State would also submit disclosures relating to the post-mortem examination reports and photographs of the crime scene within the 21 days timeframe.

Defence lawyer Iqbal Khan also informed the court that he had applied for bail for his client in the court registry.

Justice Hamza said he would provide a date next week to hear the bail application.

The case has been adjourned to August 18 (2022).
