THE U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mellon docked at the Kings Wharf today.

The vessel is on a three-day visit to the country under the Shiprider Agreement that was signed late last year between Fiji and the US.

Cutter Mellon Commanding Officer Stephen Burdian said the crew from the Mellon would undertake two community service events while they were in port this week.

“In the coming days, we will also be working inside the communities. We have a few community relations events. The entire crew is excited about learning everything we can about Fiji,” Officer Burdian said.

“We will be visiting an animal shelter and children’s hospital,” he added.

The vessel departs our shore this Friday.
