A TOTAL of 110 new wheelchairs were given to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services by Wheel Chair Foundation USA.

The handover was spearheaded by Chetan Singh Heyer from the US-based foundation.

Mr Heyer who is a former resident of Ba had been working closely with the ministry to identify the need for wheelchairs in the country.

To date, the foundation has provided a total of 550 wheelchairs to the ministry.

Mr Heyer said the wheelchair would be of great assistance to those in need of it.

“This will give them mobility to move around and be productive and they do not have to depend on others. My message to them is to use the wheelchairs wisely,” he said.

Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete acknowledged all those who were involved in this initiative.
