There was an unplanned power outage at 9.10pm yesterday evening, Wednesday August 12, 2020 which caused a power disruption to Energy Fiji Limited’s customers in the following areas:

Nands Shopping Mall, Nabua Police Station, CWM Hospital, part of Toorak, New Booming Hotel, Takayawa Complex, Ministry of Fisheries, High Street, Gohil Building, Toorak Road, Suva Street, part of Waimanu Road, Part of Renwick, part of Cunning Street, part of Marks Street, Raojibhai Patel Street, Marks Lane, and Greig Street.

According to EFL chief executive officer Hasmukh Patel,EFL teams established that the underground power cable supplying the subject area had become faulty in three locations.

“The faulty underground cables were isolated and the power supply to majority of the affected customers was normalized around 1am this morning, Thursday  August 13, 2020.

Areas still affected by this outage are the whole of Raojibhai Patel Street, part of Renwick Road and part of Waimanu Road from MidCity till Lala’s Clothing Store and part of Toorak Road from Lala’s Store till the Suva Street junction and part of Greig Street.

EFL teams have been working since last night on carrying out the underground cable fault finding to pinpoint the exact faulted location.

“Once this is done, the fault will be exposed by excavation and repairing of the cable fault will follow, before power supply is normalized for the remaining customers.”

At this stage, EFL is anticipating that repairs will be completed by tomorrow, Friday  August 14, 2020.

EFL sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused to all its customers due to this unplanned power outage.
