MORE than 400 staff members of the Laucala Bay, Labasa, Savusavu and Alafua campuses of The University of the South Pacific signed a petition to return USP to good governance, says senior lecturer Morgan Tuimalealiifano.
Mr Tuimalealiifano claimed many staff members suspected breaches in the overall management of the university.
“This included overriding committee decisions and awarding certain individuals with dubious financial payouts and unsubstantiated promotions without due process.”
Mr Tuimalealiifano said they also handed in the petition as the audit and risk committee chaired by Mahmood Khan met last week.
A total of 429 staff members signed the petition with more this week from the region.
When approached for a comment, vice-chancellor Professor Pal Ahluwalia said he could not comment on the issue.
