The Registrar of Political Parties, Mohammed Saneem, has lifted the suspension imposed on the Unity Fiji Party.

Mr Saneem confirmed this morning that the political party led by former Reserve Bank of Fiji governor Savenaca Narube had complied with the Political Parties Act.

Under the Act, all political parties are required to submit audited accounts to the Registrar within three months of the end of the financial year.

The last date for the submission of those accounts was March 31, 2021.

On Monday early this week, the Registrar issued suspension letters to Unity Fiji, Freedom Alliance and HOPE political parties citing the breach.

The parties were notified to remedy the breach within 60 days, or face deregistration.

Freedom Alliance had submitted its audited accounts on the same day and had its suspension lifted.

HOPE remains suspended.
