GUESTS of Outrigger on the Lagoon resort in Korotogo near Sigatoka have been given the unique chance to give back to the community by participating in the construction of a bure that will double as a meeting place for guests and locals.
The new facility will be built next to Conua School.
The project involves guests assisting resort engineers and local villages in building the venue that is expected to accommodate 100 people.
Resort general manager Peter Hopgood said the construction of the facility would take 12 to 18 months.
“This community tourism project will enable guests to volunteer their time over one or two days during their holiday to assist the resort’s engineering team with all aspects of the construction phase from basic labour work to more skilled trades,” Mr Hopgood said.
