Update: 11:39PM WITH the first term of the school year to commence next week, parents of Queen Victoria School are still searching for uniforms for their children.
And after the recent fire that affected the operations of one of the largest suppliers of school uniforms, Lotus Garments National Uniforms, parents now have to look
for other suppliers to help them acquire the required items on their school checklist.
One parent, in particular, is Bulou Ryland whose son is a Year 11 student at QVS.
Mrs Ryland said Lotus Garments National Uniforms used to be their main supplier of uniforms because it provided almost all the items on their school checklist – from school uniforms, school blazers, sports uniforms even up to bed sheets, pillow cases, and mosquito nets.
“Now we have to search for other uniform suppliers who do not always have all the required uniforms in stock,” she said.
“For other suppliers, we have had to make our orders so they can supply us with uniforms as these companies don’t usually sell QVS uniforms in its full stock.”
Meanwhile, M. Bhagwan and Company Limited general manager Vimal Kumar said the company had received a lot of requests from parents and guardians regarding uniforms for all boys school – Queen Victoria School and Ratu Kadavulevu School.
“We had another supplier, who had an accident earlier and parents are frustrated and coming to us requesting uniforms. We can only do a certain amount because of the last minute rush,” Mr Kumar said.
