Under-19 coach backs team at OFC

VODAFONE Fiji under-19 coach Saroj Kumar expects the team to do the country proud during the Oceania U19 Women’s Championship in New Zealand but has made no promises on where the side would finish.
Fiji is in the development stage in women’s football.
The U19 team was in camp for eight weeks in preparation for the championship which starts at the Ngahue Reserve Field Two in Auckland on Tuesday.
The Luisa Tamanitoakula captained national side will play Tonga in the opening match.
Kumar said their preparations had been good.
“We will try and do our best,” he said.
“We are not promising anything at the moment.
“However I am very determined that our footballers will do their level best to do the country proud.”
The OFC U19 serves as the qualifiers for the FIFA Women’s U20 Championship which will be played in France next year.
The national side is outfitted by Italian sportswear Kappa.
Fiji will face hosts New Zealand on July 14.
The third match will be against Samoa on July 17, the fourth against Papua New Guinea on July 21 and finally New Caledonia on July 24.
