UN rep to visit

THE United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein will make a visit to Fiji soon.
Mr Hussein’s visit is to hold talks with Fijian government officials on the country’s human rights status.
During his visit, he is expected to meet President Jioji Konrote, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and other government officials.
Mr Hussein is also expected to hold meetings with the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission, the Speaker of Parliament, Opposition politicians and civil society representatives, which includes regional leaders as well.
He will also travel to Natewa Bay, where he will meet villagers and communities facing climate change-related issues.
Mr Hussein is also expected to deliver a public lecture at the University of the South Pacific.
