THE U.S military will be conducting a bilateral exercise with the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces in Vanua Levu from next month.

The training will be carried out in Labasa and Savusavu where more than 200 military personnel from both institutions are expected to undergo exchange training.

US Army Pacific Major Kellie Landauer said they would also look at ways to assist the surrounding communities.

“I will be doing the community engagement efforts while the training is happening, we will be talking to community leaders on the area around the training just to let them know about it,” she said.

“We will also see if there are any needs that they have and in any way we can help them in terms of education and health.”

The training will commence from July 21 to August 12.
