The Digicel Fiji Premier League will take a two-week break for the FIFA International Friendlies which starts next week.

Known as the Tri-Nations Series, the tournament will include Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

The Fiji under-20 side also will feature in the tournament as part of its preparations for the FIFA U20 World Cup which starts in Indonesian in May.

The international friendlies are coming back to Fiji after five years with matches to be played at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Fiji FA competitions manager Amitesh Pal said the Digicel Bula Boys and Junior Bula Boys would be in action from Monday.

He said the DFPL will go on an international break for two weeks.

“The Tri-Nations FIFA International Friendlies will be played in Lautoka from next week,” Pal said.

“We are having the FIFA window for international friendlies so our national senior and U20 teams will be participating in the event.

“Most of the top players who represent the districts are part of the national squad.

“This is the reason we decided to give a break to the DFPL.”

He said other competitions such as the Digicel Fiji Women’s Super League, Digicel Fiji Senior League, Digicel Fiji Women’s Senior League and age-group competitions would continue.

“The DFPL will recommence on April 1,” Pal said.
