TWO tourists in their 30s died at a private medical facility in Nadi after being rushed from a prominent resort property on Denarau Island.

A senior member of the resort’s executive management team confirmed the deaths to this newspaper when contacted yesterday.

“We can confirm that two guests reported feeling unwell while staying with us,” she said.

“The guests were treated at the local medical facility, where they subsequently passed away.

“We are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased and we are doing all we can to assist the family.

“The safety, security, and wellbeing of our guests and associates remain our highest priority.

“We are working closely with the authorities for further investigation.

“We are not speculating on the cause of the deaths.

“As the investigation is currently ongoing, we are unable to comment further.”

Attempts to obtain comment from police on the extent of investigations and the possible cause of the deaths yesterday were unsuccessful when this edition went to press.
