Two families lost their homes in separate fire incidents today.

In the first case, a family of four from Dakuinuku in Tailevu lost their three-bedroom home in an early morning fire today.

The NFA reported that its Korovou Fire Station received the emergency call at 4.06am and upon arrival at the scene, the wooden and corrugated iron house was fully engulfed in flames.

The authority stated that it believed the family of four was asleep when the fire started.

“The owner of the house woke up and raised the alarm to his wife and two children and they all managed to escape to safety,” the NFA stated.

In the other incident, a family of four also lost their home in a fire along Nasau Rd in Sigatoka today.

The NFA reported that the call was received by the Sigatoka Fire Station at 11.17am, and upon arrival saw the building fully involved.

It stated the occupants of the house were in a nearby farm when the fire broke out.

No injuries were reported in both incidents.

The NFA has again reminded homeowners to strictly adhere to fire safety precautions in and around their homes.
