THE Tuva Youth 7s team recorded its hat-trick of wins in the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast Sevens tournament after successfully defending their title yesterday.
The Semo Village-based team beat Ratu Filise 10-0 on the wet Lawaqa Park turf.
Heavy rain marred top 7s action from the Nadroga-based sides as the final was held on slip and slide ground surface. Tuva coach Venieli Namoumou said determination to win was the difference in the final.
“The final was under difficult conditions but our players worked together and were determined to win,” Namoumou said.
“We have two boys from New Zealand and they combined well with our local players. We are happy that this is the third time we are keeping the trophy.”
Meanwhile, Kings 7s Select from the US won the plate final after beating KISSP Investment Wesley Fijians in the last minute 17-12.
They were locked 12-all but Waisale Serevi Jr beat two defenders to dive near the post for the winner.
Dominion Brothers on the other hand won the bowl final beating NFA Youths 17-5. Saunivalu took the shield title with a 12-7 win against the Rush Academy team.
