Tuitubou happy with sports budget allocation

FIJI is expected to host more international sporting tournaments in the coming years to enhance and expose Fijians’ sporting talents, help nurture a healthy nation and promote Fiji globally.
This was revealed by Government last night in its proposed national budget allocation for next year which was announced by the Minister for Finance, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum
The Ministry of Youth and Sports was allocated $24.1m.
Breakdown in sports allocation has the sum of $15,836, 373 which will cater for allocations such as review of sports policy, sports education, overseas sports tournaments, hosting of international tournaments, sports scholarships, sports outreach programs, Oceania Rugby 7s tournament and construction of rural sports fields and complexes.
Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou said though the ministry requested more, what they were allocated was adequate.
Major allocation: Review of sports policy –– $20,000, overseas sports tournaments –– $4,080,000, hosting of international tournaments –– $3,172, 585, sports outreach programs –– $250,000, Fiji Sports Council –– $1m, Fiji National Sports Commission –– $1m, 2018 Oceania Rugby Sevens –– $1,514,888, rural sports field –– $500,000, construction of rural sports complexes –– $2m.
