CICIA Island lass Neli Tuisawau is defying all odds to fulfil her dream of helping people access decent housing.

The 21-year-old recently completed her Certificate IV in Autocad from Fiji National University’s National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC) and has now enrolled with the College of Engineering, Science and Technology (CEST) to undertake Certificate III in Carpentry program.

Tuisawau realised her vision while growing up in the village.

Her experience with a few cyclones that caused destruction in her village further cemented her mission to ensure Fijian families had proper dwellings.

“I think having good housing is essential for everyone and it’s my dream to help people have access to this, (this) is the reason I took up carpentry,” said Tuisawau.

Tuisawau said she looked forward to commencing classes at FNU’s Derrick Campus and she was keeping an optimistic outlook despite choosing a program that had a gender imbalance.
