Tuimaba’s winner: Yasawa flyer helps club in French Top 14

A late try by Olympics gold medallist and Pau winger Aminiasi Tuimaba was enough to secure a 23-22 win against Montpellier in their Top 14 round four clash at the Stade du Hameau, France over the weekend.

Pau trailed Montpellier from the first whistle, until the final three minutes when a break in midfield saw reserve fullback Elliot Roudil slice through the Montpellier defence before off-loading to Tuimaba who powered through multiple defenders to get over in the corner for the try with flyhalf Zack Henry adding the two points for the lead.

Montpellier scored a late try on 80 minutes with the conversion unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, fellow Fijian Lekima Tagitagivalu has also signed on with Pau for another season.

Flying Fijians lock Temo Mayanavanua also scored a try for his Lyon club although it was not enough as the side went down in a close match by 24-20 to Racing Metro 92.
