A new health centre has been requested by the district of Malomalo in Nadroga.

District spokesman Joeli Tubu said many accidents had happened along popular beaches within the district, including Natadola.

“In 2018, I had requested for a health centre because of the number of villages we have in our district and because we have hotels that bring in a lot of tourists,” he said.

“We have had a lot of injuries and accidents happening along our shores, especially in Natadola.

“This is something that we need not only for our people but also for our tourists.

“If we had one near Natadola, people would feel much safer.”

In response, Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said a team would visit the district to discuss their concerns.

He said they would also work with officials from the district office and the provincial administrator.
