Trust helps 10 needy students with $500 each for education

Ten needy students from Lautoka have received $500 each as education assistance from Swaran Singh Educational Charitable Trust of New Zealand.

On behalf of the trust, Minister for Sugar Charan Jeath Singh presented the cheques to the needy Sikh students at the Lautoka Gurudwara Saheb yesterday.

The Lautoka Gurudwara Saheb president Bayant Singh said the scholarship which was provided for the first time, would be a great help as the new school would begin from today.

“It is a very divine thought of the trust to help 10 students here in Fiji and we want to show our gratitude to the directors of the trust for this noble assistance,” he said.

“We expect the students to honour the objectives of the trust as much as they can do in order to prove their academic strength.”

The Sugar Minister acknowledged the scholarship assistance from the trust and said “it is a matter of great blessing towards the needy children”.

The 10 students who received the scholarship were Aastha Kaur, Sharan Kaur, Jaspreet Singh, Satvindar Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Khuspreet Kaur, Sonal Singh, Shaulendar Kaur, Ashvindra Singh and Manvir Singh.
