Trust eyes premises

NADI-BASED trust Project Bula Mai is checking out potential premises to house a St John Ambulance service branch in the tourist town, says chairman Adrian Sofield.

The proposed development is to be funded by proceeds raised during the Style Fiji fashion gala last year.

“Last year we raised over $100,000 and allocated $34,000 to St John Ambulance, to help set up,” he said.

“We haven’t spent that yet, we’re looking for premises here in Nadi.”

He said the cost of setting up the service would be high but they were adamant to help out, particularly as the focus of their fundraising activities go towards improving Nadi’s health facilities.

“This year we are really going to focus on St John.

“Obviously we will still help the Nadi Hospital for side issues that come up but we do want to help St John get an ambulance service on this side of the island.”
