Trial begins for alleged rape and impregnation case

THE man who allegedly raped and impregnated his daughter is now standing trial before High Court judge Justice Daniel Goundar.

He is charged with three counts of rape and two counts of indecent assault.

It is alleged the first victim in the case was sexually assaulted when she was 10 years old back in 1982.

He impregnated her when she was 15 years old and was repeatedly molested until 1992.

The second victim was allegedly sexually assaulted when she was 10 years old in 1997 and was continually molested until 2013.

The trial started behind closed doors at the High Court in Suva yesterday, and was scheduled to resume today.

The case, however, was rescheduled to tomorrow.

The accused who is on bail will appear in court at 10am.
