Only 1005 visitors arrived in Fiji in September this year compared to 81,354 recorded for the same period last year.

Fiji’s Bureau of Statistics attributes the decrease to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions placed on international travel.

Of the 1005 visitors, 183 came by air while 822 came by sea.

A total of 760 sea arrivals were recorded, mostly seamen on fishing vessels while 62 arrivals were by yachts.
