Transformative actions

Listen to this article:

The Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) aims to simulate urgent and transformative actions by governments and the public, says director for environment, Sandeep Singh.

She said the framework built on the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020, aimed at simulating urgent and transformative actions by governments and the public, including indigenous people, local communities, civil society and businesses to achieve its targets and goals.

“The development of the Post-2020 GBF requires participation and collaboration of all relevant government organisations and stakeholders,” she said.

She said parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) were now discussing the Post-2020 GBF and Fiji through the Ministry of Environment as the CBD focal point would continue to actively participate and contribute to these ongoing discussions to ensure that our needs and ambitions were reflected in the Post-2020 GBF.

She also said the development of the Post-2020 GBF required participation and collaboration of all relevant government organisations and stakeholders.
