Tough clash: Eight local teams book spot in Raka 7s cup quarter-final

EIGHT local rugby 7s teams have confirmed their spots in the cup quarter-final of the 2018 Raka 7s tournament today.

Defending champion Ratu Filise secured its spot after thumping Exile Brothers 28-0 in the first elimination. Westfield Rendwick caused an upset beating last year’s runner-up First Light Taveuni 14-0.

Police Blues defeated Babeez Senivaivai 24-12, Army Nadroga edged Pacific Warriors Nairai 17-12, Tabadamu defeated Mac Namara Dratabu 26-0 while Hideaway Hurricanes beat Tavua Sharks 15-12.

Coastal Brothers beat Police White 19-0 as newcomer Nakelo upset First Landing 5-0 in the last elimination.

The quarter-finals draw will see Ratu Filise taking on Hideaway Hurricanes, Westfield to battle Tabadamu, Coastal Brothers will face Army Nadroga, while Police Blue will try and beat Nakelo.

The quarter-finals will kick off at 9am today at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
